I watched this movie more out of a sense of obligation than a desire to see it. Over these series of X-Men movies, it felt like there were huge gaps of the story missing in between the movies that the audience was always meant to just mentally fill in. Those gaps caused us to get to a movie that should have had a lot more emotional weight than it did. There were some fun and interesting power uses but beyond that too much shorthand to just rush through the story.
Thank you Fox X-Men for what you did to get us to the MCU Utopia we have now. Now let the MCU take care of you the way you should be. See you again when the time is right.
