Before I say anything about this movie I have to address the aspect ratio.  The 4×3 DOES NOT work.  I can understand if there was a dramatic reason for it but it serves no purpose.  Maybe if I had a chance to see this in the theater I would feel different but I felt robbed.  Some of the shots and cinematography were beautiful and then it was kneecapped by the 4×3 aspect ratio.

Now the movie itself was a slow burn that I grew to appreciate.  At first, I felt a bit thrown into the mix and wondered what the hell was happening but as I settled into the story it felt so authentic and genuine that I was able to let my pessimistic guard down and enjoy the moment in time being portrayed on screen.

The relationship between Cookie and King-Lu was the best part of this movie.  Their friendship of circumstance is so relatable and it felt necessary for both of them.  Definitely worth the watch.
