24 years later we get a remake of Day of the Jackal with A LOT of questionable decisions. It really feels like a product of the 90s. Richard Gere’s character Declan is a pointless add, making this a more inferior version of the story. It felt like the studio requested a white-male action anti-hero to be the nemesis to the Jackal which ends up pushing the government agents into the background and we totally lose the Inspector Lebel character. After seeing the trailer for the new series on Peacock it feels like we may get the definitive version of this story.
